Polytec and Fairhaven Homes have been collaborating for almost 15 years and in that time, they have both seen many changes to not only design trends but to products and materials, including structures, textures and colours. Here we meet two creative women, doing incredible things for Interior Design trends in Australia.
As Lead Designer of Polytec’s Product Development Team, Marylou Cafaro has been instrumental in the design and development of unique colours like Cavia Lini, Coastal Oak, Avion Grey and Blossom White and finishes such as Woodmatt, Legato, Venette, Ravine, Smooth and Matera, ensuring the market is utilising materials which are robust, timeless and sophisticated. Marylou is committed to enhancing decorative surfaces for the Australian lifestyle, highlighting the importance of longevity with quality and style that creates a new journey towards sustainable design.
Within the Product Development team as Display Home Interior Designer at Fairhaven Homes, Gemma Bishop then begins to create the way a Fairhaven display home will look and feel, encompassing fixtures, fittings and furniture. All this is happening well in advance to the display home opening, and when it is, the public then sees before them, current trends that both Marylou and Gemma have been working on with foresight.
If you take a look at Fairhaven’s two Display homes the Brooklyn 278 and Clovelly 225, located at the Armstrong Display in Mount Duneed, it is quite extraordinary when you think about what you are seeing as new and fresh design trends, that were created so long ago, for the here and now. Look no further than the Kitchens and Bathrooms in these homes to see how the Polytec joinery ties together the beautiful design aesthetic that was curated for these homes.
The Brooklyn, featuring Polytec’s Cavia Lini Matt, was used in the Kitchen, Butler’s Pantry, Laundry, Bathrooms and Living room as entertainment shelving making all rooms connected and cohesive. This is important in the way rooms work and the way we now live and use a space. The darker shade is more contemporary and makes a statement that commands attention, separating it from other elements within the home. The cabinetry depth worked perfectly with dark fabrics, warm timber floors and concrete benchtops to bring the lodge inspired home to life.
The Clovelly display is something completely different. Clean whites, dark knitted grey’s and tan leather. Using a mix of Polytec’s Coastal Oak Woodmatt, Avion Gray Matt and Blossom White Matt in the home’s wet areas, study nook and entertainment shelving in the Living room, this home is effortlessly put together. The Coastal feel is more relaxed in its approach, but still with the same level of attention, it takes a lot of talent and time to make decorative surfaces and interiors work so well.
That is what has been the success of the collaboration with Polytec and Fairhaven Homes. A mutual understanding of the foresight and planning taken to make a product work well in today’s homes. Quality products partnering to bring our clients, beautiful long-lasting homes for years to come.
